    Headunit causing fuse blowage

well i keep blowing my #12 fuse.....the one that links the speedo, OBC and headunit...now im thinking there is something to do with the wiring of my headunit...fuck tard who installed it last time....i was wondering how i should go about re wiring..or just leave it to someone who actually can.....also how do you get the headunit to stay on as you start the car...everyone elses bimmer seems to..why not mine! is there a constant power supply wire that turns on with ignition but doesnt cut out when starting?

    Hi Gus
Fuse blowing probably means shitty install. Lukes Law #1 states "Blame the installer", so that means if everything is great, no problems, blame the installer. If you have hassles, headaches, blown fuses...blame the installer.

Poor guy was probably confused since you drive on the wrong side.

My Sony shuts off while cranking, as it is supposed to do. The accessory poosition goes dead while the key is in the crank mode. Design "feature" which can be bypassed with a couple of diodes and a relay. Better still, do what I do and make a "retained accessory power" circuit, so as soon as you turn the key on, the radio comes on and stays on until you open the door even if you shut the key off.

Go to www.the12volt.com and you will find a diagram.

Always blame the installer first, Luke is right.
