    keyless question

I ordered the omega research keyless system. When people say they use their amp for power do they mean that they connect it right to the power going to the amp, and same with the ground wire going directly to the amp?

I installed mine the same way as the write-up and it took 10 minutes and works like a charm.

I have said it before and I will say it again: Those instructions are shit.

Do NOT mount your alarm/keyless in the trunk.

Use some fucking RELAYS!!! Lock and unlock take more current than that unit will deliver, year after year. Simple shit like this make for poor longevity.

Moisture and poor voltage/connections are the #1 cause of module failure.

Putting fragile electronics in the trunk is a very poor idea.

Amps and such are far more robust, mechanically speaking.

Alarms go in the dashboard, that is where the factory puts them, right?

not to mention easy for someone to bypass. I was taught to make the thing as hard to get to as possible (I actually stole the alarm off the viper show van many years ago on a bet from them)

So how exactly do you use a relay with this system?

Stereoinstaller! Do you have a writeup for installation in the dash?

Y'know, the hardest part for me is to stop what I am doing and take pictures.

CorvallisBMW took like 2 zillion pics, but I don't have them yet.

After I move to Seattle later this month, I am gonna have some time to do all these writeups....yeah, right.

                  I can try anyway, right?

Oh you're moving up here soon Luke? Hmmmm I was thinking of going with this setup, but maybe you might want to do the dash install for me if I supply the kit :) Unless you got something else in mind. haha.

I've got the united auto security unit and it tells you to tap in to the wires behind the speaker in the drivers side kick panel. I'll look up the instructions for which wire colors.
