whistle noise at 2000RPM 3rd gear

in the morning or night, my car makes some kind of electrical interference noise at exactly 1950-2050rpm in 3rd gear. it is kind of a whistle noise that increases pitch as the RPMs increase. the headlights and stereo being on or off dont matter, which are the only variables i can think of that might influence this noise. the only constant i can think of is the air is damper in the morning and at night.

anyone else had this experience? any ideas for what it might be from?

    thanks in advance

im not sure... its hard to pinpoint where the sound is even coming from. what could make a noise like that? it isnt coming from the speakers.

Its probably coming from your spedo or tach. Mine makes a quiet squeak like noise every now and then. When its cold out.

hmm i guess it could be from the tach itself. i guess i would have to take out the cluster to find that out.

          thanks for your input.

update. it happens in all gears at 30mph. so i am guessing the sound is coming from the speedo and not the tach.
