It's just an easy sweet spot to aim for.
Don't get me wrong, women fold and panties drop every time I roll up, but I ain't playing 33 hz test tones all day trying to make it happen :P
Besides, cabin gain throws off that whole idea.

iirc the half wave of the preface lift cars is around 40 hz, come to think of it. that was the half wave from the face of my wall to the windshield. thats what i had my wall tuned to. but it was my first box i had built in bass box so im not sure if thats where it was. it had a huge port as well. it was something like 5in by 5 in and 10in deep i believe.(squared port)

It was a major PITA. I wouldn't recommend it unless your good and have lots of patience.
Is your speaker square? Solobaric's are the square woofers.
I once had a 15 (lame old jbl). I fiberglassed my spare tire well and then built a box on top of that, sub was upfiring with a PVC port that was centered over the spare tire well so I could get the extra port length.

25 sq. in. of port is NOTHING for 4 12's. My new setup going into my 4runner will be 4 of those 12" RE SE's, with ~200sq. in. of port total, tuned to like 30-31 hz.
My current box with the soundsplinters has about 60 sq. in. of port and I regret making my ports so small.
