    prob a stupid idea...

but i will give it a thread before i perform such activity within my e30.

So i have a coupe, and on my center console i have the three window switches. two window (up/down) switches and one window lock... quite honestly, i dont use that window lock switch, as its crap, feels like crap, and operated like crap. its hard as hell to disengage when im cleaning the interior, and i dont use it either.

    this is my question:

can i take a third window (up/down) switch and place it in the window lock switch spot, and splice wires from both corresponding switches for passanger and driver window, to have a switch that moves both windows up and down at the same time as well as leaving the original switches incase i want control over one window at a time?

does this sound like a possability that is achieveable?

        Sounds pretty cool to me.

It is not possible without relays at a minimum, and is best done with window controllers.

If you were to try and combine the two windows without relays, you would not be able to run only one window, and might as well have only one switch.

Oh...another handy use for that switch location is AUX fan manual switch.

            I call that A/C button.

Don't do it, put something else in it's place.

i think you're wrong, this is pretty doable. as long as the switch has enough poles to keep the left and right window circuits separate. chances are good that with a little poming around you'll find that a double pole switch hooked up the right way would cut it.

edit: also i beleive that the window disable switch is actually a circuit breaker.

So let me get this straight: you think you are going to find a nice looking momentary contact switch in DPDT that will run a window motor directly?

Let me know how that works out for you, OK?

And you are welcome to believe anything you want, but that switch is just a switch, no breaker involved.

You can't do it with a stock window switch - not with out a few relays as Luke said.

Oh, and only the "windows disable switch" that has red on the sides when you pop the switch out is a circuit breaker. The ones with a solid black button is merely a pointless switch.

I know I have one of those in the junk box. Gotta take that apart now and see. That is how I know the all black ones are NOT breakers.

On the back of the real "circuit breaker" ones there is even an adjustment screw. They explode into about 15 parts when you take one apart.

I'd like to know if this can be done as it would be really nice to be able to roll down all the windows in my vert using just one button.

I was hoping Stereoinstaller would come up with an elegant solution for us and I'd go out and buy the parts the next day.
