    '87 325 Stereo Wiring Help

about three months ago i bought a 1987 325, with a busted stock cassette deck and the basic, crappy speakers and i'd really, REALLY like to know where the wires go.
i have a diagram, but i need something more like a map.

i already know that i have to rewire it to put in a normal stereo.
i bought an alpine head just about two weeks ago.

also, less important stuff, where would be a good place to put a crossover and amp for a sub i'll but in a couple months? and what size would you recommend for the smallish 2dr? i'm been thinking an 8". i don't like heavy gansta bass. i like bass though. but not a ton.

    thank youuuu

Amps and crossovers typically go in the trunk, next to the sub. I've also seen passive crossovers under front seats.

If you have the wiring diagram, you have everything you need, because you know what color wires go to your speakers, and what color wires operate the radio. Your Alpine will need a +12V constant, +12V switched, Ground, Illum, and Antenna connections, along with the speaker connections.

It's also advisable to bypass the stock fader when you're installing an aftermarket system.

i was thinking about putting the crossover under the seat.
      amp was a dumb Q.
      i already knew that.

and i'm going to bypass that fader.
is there a cap i can buy to take it's place or do i have to keep it there?

i want to know where the wires are at in my car,
if they go thru the middle under the console and e-brake or what?

also, where would you recommend i put the new wires?

The wiring goes under the driver side of the dash and under the carpet on the very left side of the car. You might as well run new wires in the same place, since you then only have to pull up one side of the carpet.
