What have I done??

Two weeks ago I installed a new head unit in my E30. Just after installing it, my turn signals stopped working. When I turn the signal on, i get a buzzing noise from the blinker relay inside the steering column. I pulled it out and replaced it, but the buzzing hasn't stopped. I've been assuming this was an issue with my turn signals, but yesterday when i turned on my rear windshield defroster i got the same buzzing in my turn signal relay.

Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Sounds like the relay is getting power fed up the ground (been there) and is causing it to click back and forth very quickly, which makes the buzzing sound. Check the grounds and power (mainly the power) for the new head unit.
