    86 radio wiring

When I got my car (86 325es) the factory wiring harness for the radio was cut, does anyone know the color codes for the factory speakers?

I'm not really sure, I know that it has the dome tweeters next to the mirrors, and then the front and rear speakers.

None of this looks like my wiring, do you have one for the other stereo?

Yeah, the es is gonna have a fader in the dash.

Here is the deal: you have 2 speaker wires coming out of your deck, plus 1 ground for both L+R. Normal power, switched power, dash lights, ground and power antenna/amp turn on.

The 2 speaker wires and the ground go to the fader, which makes the 2 into 4, and splits up the grounds, but only left and right, not 4 separate grounds. These 2 grounds are still actually the same ground, but no matter, because all 4 go into the amp, which runs the speakers.

So the real question is what are you trying to do?

Yeah, it has the fader. What I'm trying to do is just wire an aftermarket head unit in the car so I have some sound. The previous owner took the old one out and cut the harness. So I'm just trying to find which wire goes to which speaker.

The wires in the dash do not go to the speakers.

Any wires in there that look aftermarket?

Nah, they look to be factory. There are a bunch of cut wires, and the wires from the fader have been cut also. I may just go a head and rewire it myself...seems to be the best way to do it.

Just throw new speaker wire to all 4 corners and connect them to you HU. Color code should be the same as in the link I posted for 12v, switched power, ground and antenna.

                          X2 bubba.

Early car means all new wire.

You might want to catch the rears under the rear seat.
