My fuel gauge doesn't work. It stays right past the 1/2 way mark and usually doesn't move, unless you are right about to run out of gas. I've cleaned and tightened the nut of the back of the cluster, which fixed my temp gauge problem, but no luck with the fuel gauge...any thoughts?

Probably your level thingy on the pump is sticking. Happens on e28s, probably on e30s too.'96 328is

The sending unit is really simple to get to. Just pull up your back seat bottom, and unscrew the plate on the pass side. The sending unit is right there. And IIRC just 4 nuts hold the sending unit in.
