Has anyone had any luck retro fitting a motor from an 89ix into an 86 es? I thought they were the same but according to PelicanParts they were the same up to 88 and after that they were different.

Late model regulators are far better than early model.
Better enough that before my car sees fresh paint (about 2017) it will get new doors.
I do think the motor itself is the same though.Comment

I thought you could retrofit newer style regulators/motors into older style cars? I'm pretty sure Jordan did this in his first e30.Comment

Yeah, but not so quick on an early regulator.
The fucking pile of shit design means when the center pivot of the "driven" gear of the regulator wears out, the motor seizes.
Sneaky bishes!
Grab an allen set or something, see if the center pivot is fairly firm in its location. If it isn't, it might be time to go 'yarding.
Oh hells ya, of course you could. You could put the whole damn car in there is you really want to...but I figure a guy who is asking this question just might not have the skills to do so. Not yet, anyway.
I am swapping the doors just to be able to brag about it, bishes.
