    Consumtion Meter

    Howzit guys....

my car is a chrome bumper 86 model... it came from the factory with something called an ljettronic computer system(or something like that)....it had the distributer on the block below the AFM.....

When i did the conversion to Motronic, the first problem i had (and this seems to happen to all the cars that do this transplant) is that the rev counter did not work an the consumption meter.
My mechie sorted the problem out when we dynoed and chipped the car..... the consumption meter works but not like before or like any other plastic bumper.....if u take notice, even when u at standstill and rev the motor , the consupmtion meter moves and goes back to its original place and so it does this while going through the gears and obviously settles once in 5th....... mine only moves a bit in 5th, thats all....

anyone know why this is or can help me ....

My 87 325 does the same thing, as does my friend's 88 325is and my other friend's 91 325is. As far as I can tell, the only thing the economy guage does is measure throttle position combined with RPM. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about how it gets it's measurements.

does the consumption meter on the cluster have to do with the consumption on the OBC? the reason i want to sort this problem out is because i did the obc conversion but my consumption is showing like 39.5......

Yes, the OBC gets consumption readings from the cluster and then averages them.
