actually im thinking im just going to use osram nightbreakers which are 60w h4 (on high) and 55w h1s, that way i dont have to re-do any stock wiring. i may or may not put on the driving lights which are in storage atm...
What h4 bulbs are those you speak of? I did the conversion and the cheapo bulbs included in the kit are already degrading.

I upgraded to a 140amp Bosch alternator about 5 years ago in my E36. I was having problems running my stereo and high beam lights at the same time. Needless to say, I don't have that problem anymore.

so far so good, but im still not taxing it much (still waiting to get my audio gear shipped to me from cali)... i do notice the alternator kicking on when i first start the car. i give it a little gas and the lights go brighter slightly. its not as bad as my GM alty in my 02, which often needed a big blip to turn on. Seems fine, but again im not sucking its teets very hard ;)

The "Part Number" on the alty is nonsense, doesnt correspond to anything (im pretty sure its a fake "Bosch" label in general). I installed the alt, and it works, but havent tested it with any real demands (or with a meter at all) so im not willing to "endorse" it yet.
If you want one anyway, look up "eagle auto electric" on ebay via google, and email them. The dude who helped me out was Steve. I paid $115 delivered to Indiana from soucal.

Alright, after two days fighting a seized bolt (lower bolt seized to alty bracket--torch GOOD!), I finally got the new one in. Seems to work fine. Didnt really do much testing of it due to not wanting to run the car until I can get the timing belt done. Reggie of www.reggiesmotorworks.com is gonna do it for me as part of the deal with me selling him my 02...

heh.... anyway, the mother fucker lower bolt is seized bigtime in the bracket. ive tried EVERYTHING except a torch. i went out today and bought a ton of shit but forgot the torch...
18years + aluminum bracket + hardened steel bolt = FUCK YOU! you try to get this off... ive got it soaking in PB. tomorrow ima saw the old alty off and go brute on it.

An 130amp alt will not be enough for 1300 watts if that is continuous let alone a vibrating dildo.
