    e36 sound upgrades

I have an e36 sedan that has a half ass system in it. It has a screen with I hate (eclipse) and mb quart factory upgrade speakers up front. The car is wired for a sub but doesn't have one. Car also has a PG amp (older one) powering the speakers via the factory crossover.

I'm looking to do a fairly decent but inexpensive upgrade in the near future. My e30 is on the back burner at the moment because the e36 is my daily driver.

I was thinking that I need some sort of new head unit and a crossover system and associated subwoofer amp/sub.

I'd like to keep the mb quarts as they seem to be good enough, but i'm open to suggestions.

I have a nice old PPI amp that I used to have in my e30. Its a 4 channel, but I can't remember the model (i'll report back). I also have a newer PG amp in my e30 thats a 200x4 (monster). All of this can be moved around. E30 has an 8 inch CDT sub that could work if properly setup.

    What does everyone think?

btw i'd post this in an e36 forum but most of those guys are morons.

what year e36? Mids and tweets in doors? More info needed.
what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

          Yo.

Teh e36 is teh ballers, yo.

The front stage is a 3 way...did they replace the speakers and the crossovers? Lots of shops just added the 3 way Quart crossovers on the stock speakers, which sounds pretty good. There are no stock crossovers, they were in the amp.

Some of the Quart 3 way crossovers had bi-amp inputs...do yours?

What I am seeing is that you have 3 4 channel amps. Am I reading this right?

Basically, since you already have re-wired or better speakers and a couple of amps, I would just do a smaller 4 channel for the front (half on the midbass driver, the other half on the midranges/tweeters) then a larger 4 channel for the rear, using half of it for the bass (subwoofer) and half to the rear speakers.

It would be mucho helpful if I had actual model numbers, so I can check what features the amps have, crossover points on the speakers, etc.

As far as a deck, I really like 95% of my Pioneer, but I am gonna change over to the Premier DEH-P700BT. I really want Bluetooth built in, and am not convinced that the AVIC-F500BT is going to perform the way I dream of.

          Luke

the speakers are def. replaced because they have the MB speaker covers on the mid.

            available amps:
I am going to keep the PPI in the e30.

            so I have a PG ZX450v.2
            and a PG xenon x200.4

I'm not trying to do anything expensive here, but I'd like to have better than stock for not a bunch of money. I figure since I have amps already it shouldn't be too bad. I hate the xenon x200.4 so far though.

                Shoot a pic or three.

That ZX450 on front, half of that Xenon on rears and the other half on bass would sound great.

                  I've figured it out.

3 way MB quarts. mid and tweeter are a coax design but have different channels, 3 way MB crossover (i found the box)

There is a bit of a mess of remote wires going to this and that, but i'll sort that out later.

There are no rear speakers. I could get a set for cheap i'm sure.

The bass part is where i'd have to spend some money. I have an 8 inch sub only at the moment thats in my e30. I had an IDmax but it just stopped working (think it was one of there subs that was flawed, i've read about this).

so basically I need a sub and a headunit unless I can get this ESM shit figured out on the one I have. I am going to look through the stuff that came with my car and hope that there is a cd in there.

the manual had the name of the cd. titled "wedding cd." fucking helpful eh? I pmed the PO's on bimmerforums. I want to get rid of this stupid head unit though or atleast disable this fucking DSM.

luke what do you have in the way of 10 inch subs at reasonable rates. Perhaps I can buy myself a post xmas present or a birthday present for Jan.

also which pioneer do you have?

I have nothing in woofers or anything else right now, since I closed the shop.

My deck is the DEH-P5000. Decent enough...3 preouts + USB.

See if you can find an Alumapro woofer, they are excellent SQ woofs.
