6x9s are a waste. Just get some 6.5"s if you're going to run rear speakers at all.

I assume you want loud music rather than proportinate music then?

You can buy 6x9 boxes that suit your purpose.

First, you don't want any highs coming from the rear. If you're going to have rear fill at all (which I don't recommend), you're just going to want mid-bass coming from the rear. That being said, a 6.5" midbass speaker will provide better sound quality than a 6x9 coaxial in the rear deck.

If that's what you want then go for it, but I would not mess with fiberglass in this case, prefabs are inexpensive and are made of wood and will end up sounding better than "glass".

You realize that fiberglass cloth and good resins are very expensive right?

will 6.5 midbass speakers fit behind a factory e30 grill? I ask because my 318i just has the 5.25 in mid speakers that have the one peice cover.

I have not had any experince with sound setups, so do you think two tweaters in the stock location, along with two 5.25 midbass speakers for the front will sound good? And if the 6.5 midbass speakers will fit behind the factory grills then add two of those for the rear, other wise I will run like two more 5.25.

Like I said I do not know what sounds good other than the Infinity system our Grand Cherokee had and the Mark Leva something the Lexus had.

do you have the premium speaker deck housing from the later cars or does it just bolt onto the shelf? If you don't want to drill holes you can always buy the spacer/adapter pieces to mount the sixes from circuit city or something. I dunno, ive got 5.25 coax in the rear and the sound from the front is plenty enough.
