iPod adapter on stock radio???

Is it possible to run an ipod adapter on the stock e30 radio?

I had an aftermarket head unit that just got torn out along with much of my dash, so I'd like to keep the interior low key.

Or maybe even some unit that is just for hooking up an ipod, that I can fabricate into where the cig tray is.
I never use the CD Player or radio anyways.

Search e30 tech. There's a way to hardwire some shit into the casette deck.

If you find a late model CD43 or C33 and the stock harness, there are actual iPod controllers available

After talking with a friend and reading the hard wiring into the cassette DIY, I think I'm just going to skip the radio all together and just put a delete panel in.

Then try to find a controller small enough to fabricate into the cig tray.

I'll post up my adventure when insurance pulls through.

The Harman Kardon Drive+Play2 with a JL Audio CL-RLC would be an impressive control/preamp setup. Add a 4 channel amp and all is good.

Yea, I've got a friend who was offering me his Drive+Play, but the unit is too big to fit in the cig tray area.

I need this to be completely undetectable and within reach. Putting it in the glove box would defeat the drive+play's purpose.

Also - can you make a 2 channel amp into 4? Splitting channels or something? I've got a sony Xplod 760W amp laying around from a while back. I was thinking of wiring up one of the 10" Type S's I've got also. Is it possible to wire up a sub, the stock speakers and the ipod unit from that one amp?

Picked up a clleeaaannn door off a guy in the burbs. I spent a couple hours dissembling it on Saturday. I just need to scuff it up and get it painted.

Yea, I moved here from the Boston area and I was expecting a large cult following for BMWs and VWs in the Chicago area...but there's like....nothing. It's pretty shitty.

Anyways, I don't think i'll be going to Detroilet. Too much money and time for not that much fun. So I may come out. Is there anyone else close by going? Maybe we could plan a collective ride up.

i know i will be driving up there, and i am fairly local. other than that, i'm not sure. a few guys are coming down from wisconsin and a few of them are up in waukegan (close to gurnee).
