burnt alternator

hey some guy on craigslist is selling a car and he hooked the battery up wrong and burnt out the alternator anything else that might mess up besides the alternator because i'm thinking about buying it.

Does it start? Hook up a charged battery and turn it on to see if any lights are on. Another common one besides the alternator is also the ABS relay getting fried (under $100 for a new one, or for free if you can solder).
You need to try to start it up though, so you know what you're getting into.

Thats sucks.....I just sold a bunch of relays for pennies. I think I've been had.
