Where is the Stock amp located in the car?

I have an 87 325is with premium sound. It crackles and cuts out from time to time I heard the stock amp is garbage. I heard that I can either bypass it. Or install my new deck run off my new decks amp. I also want to know where it's located. Sorry The search function doesn't work on my iPhone and that's all I have.
