Sony CDX-GT565UP. I looked at everything out there. I chose to get the single row version of this Sony Head Unit to match the single row of the OBC. I also liked that it was not a flip down screen, (looks older). The color is "infinitely" adjustable. You can tune it to match the orange/red perfectly. I don't have a pic at night, but it makes me happy that it is the same color and look of the OBC. The display is kind of outdated for what you can get now days in an aftermarket head unit which I think matches better. It's in an e28 but you get the idea.

Can color match. Really simple installation. Not flush, but doesn't poke too much. I mounted the wired mic in a dead panel above the HU.

Once my car comes out of the paint shop I am looking to replace a funky Pioneer unit with something that is more compatible with the E30.
Had this in my Last e30, was really great and Id buy one again in a heartbeat. Controlling iPod kinda sucked because it always starts the songs in ALphebetical order, but it handled pandora Perfectly. Looked right at home in the E30 center console. Good quality, would buy again. Like $110 at Best buy.

What is up with aftermarket head units? In one way or another they insist on "sticking out":
                          • BLING - gloss, colors, **flashy lights**
                          • Non-flush - some of the promising units (Nakamichi) have a nice matte, non-bling look but sadly stick out at least a few mm above stock.

It always seems like you have to compromise between features (bluetooth/handsfree, iPod) and looks...
