Audio overhaul w/ question about LOC

I'm getting ready to setup my new audio and plan to run the following.

    Front Stage:
    Elemental Design e3 6.5-inch Midrange
    CDT ES 010 tweeter
CDT DRT-26 tweeter as a braxial
    Elemental Design 6500 Cross over

    Rear fill:
Two Elemental Design e3 8-inch woofer

    Juice:
    Elemental Design 9.4
    Sounds Gate LOC 4.4

I plan to run the front stage, hopefully being able to fit the 6.5's in the stock kick panel location, and running a tweeter in there, as well as another tweeter up top by the factory tweeter location.

For the rear, I'll mount the two 8's in the rear deck, using the trunk as an infinite baffle.

Question I have. I have the CD43 headunit, so therefore no RCA outs. I'm going to use the LOC to convert the line outs into RCA's. For those that use the LOC without an aftermarket headunit, did you tap the signal after or before the amp? I have the premium sound system.

I think the output of the cd43 is rca level output. So you would not need an LOC at all.

Stereoinstaller should be chiming in real soon.

Are you sure? I don't remember seeing any RCA-outs when I installed it, although my memory might not be too accurate.

Fuck, I need to make a goddamn sticky about how and why to install a CD43/C33...answering the same questions over and over gets old.

OK, here is the deal: solder female RCA plugs on the speaker wires of the CD43. Do NOT use the speaker negatives, only use the positives, then use chassis ground as the signal ground.

That deck is a preamp only deck, but it can drive speakers directly. Run whatever aftermarket stuff directly off of it, no worries!

You will be absolutely astounded at the sound quality of that CD43, BTW.

Thanks for clearing that up Luke. I knew it was like that but I could not remember specifics.

I know you knew, but I knew you knew that I know, so I posted what we both knew, so that he could know.

Thanks, and now i know. :nice:

Luke, I got another question about the front mids. I have some 6.5" midbass speakers, which I was planning on dropping into the front kicks. I'm not too thrilled about adding mounting them on the door card, and I'd rather not go that route. Is there anyway I can fab up a sloped wodden ring, to help angle the way the speakers fires? Would that help at all?
