Brake lights and reverse lights not working

Hey guys, my brake lights and my reverse lights stopped working. I checked the bulbs and fuse and they check out. I notice that the reverse light sometimes work after using the car. the brake lights don't work at all.

could it be the black box in the trunk?

    thanks

it could be the black box however, do you have 5spd or auto? if you have 5spd pull up the shifter boot and check the reverse light wires it could be that they are worn or if its not that and if only your brake lights are not working check the PUSH PIN on top of the brake pedal arm underneath the drivers side dash panel it could be stuck....

BTW, if it turns out to be the black box I have one for you

Same thing just happened to me, check for corrosion first.. I took that box out for a few hours and re plugged it in and it worked like a charm.

JW if this would set the OBC to light up the Brake light?

I forgot to mention this. OBC tells me that the Brake lights are out right after I turn the key to ON position. I also hear a click sound near the fuse box when the OBC starts to tell the Brake lights are out..

Dunno about the whole fuse box noise, but I know that the car is supposed to tell you the brake lights are bad at startup so you look at check panel.. then when you hit the brake pedal it goes off, it's just to test you.

That black box (Check Module) has rather delicate internals and they do fail but not usually of natural causes.

Possible brake light switch and the lic plate lights are coincidence. (corroded bulb contacts bad B/U switch in the trans?)

But mine doesn't turn off after hitting the pedal.
