    My own iDrive..kinda.

So my radio was shot. It broke last August. I purchased a stock e30 radio from TexasTerp (or e30terp on bimmerforums) who is an awesome seller, couldn't ask for a better one. So here is my little set up, yes my car is dirty. I'm planning on hiding the wire completely later on down the road. Here are the pictures.

The only reason it's similar to iDrive..well, it's not reallllly similar, but the whole clicking and scowling thing is kind of alike :nice:

The iPod is held on by velcro. The soft side is attached to the inside of the car, and the ruff side is on the back of my iPod. It does not budge when cornering yet is easy to detach when taking it out of the car.

That is the shift knob I have! What lower collars fit it?

Also velcro is awesome for ghetto-mounting things in your interior

Haha..I had it in my last e30, and decided to keep it in this one. It's the first thing a girl always notices when they get in.

It is just the original one it came with, yet it has difficulties staying screwed on. It doesn't bother me much though.

And yes, it really is. It's better than a huge, goofy looking holder for it. When your iPod is on it, you obviously cannot see it. But hey, it gets the job done ;)

Looks good but there are two things i would change

1: Rout the cord above the deck not below so less cord is showing

2: Get a black cord to blend in.

                Good job eric:-D

I couldn't figure out a way to remove the center console that's right under the heater adjusters and all that stuff..but I found a link so I'll remove it, hide the wire, and bam. Good to go. Also, I'm going to paint the wire black, so it does blend in. And thanks, it gets the job done...for now. lol. :nice:

How are you using the Ipod to the stock radio? Where's the input?

I have a black one as well. The quality of the white one is better than the black one I have.

Wow that is ghetto. You should solder the 3.5mm jack to the tape deck circuit board and run the wire behind the radio. There is a how to thread on here.

I don't mind it. It's not completely ghetto, I've seen worse ;) And I don't have a solder gun. I have that link bookmarked. I was planning on doing it whenever I found a soldering gun.
