What's the best way to amplify stock speakers?

I want to bypass the factory amp and use one amp to power all 4 factory speakers and a small 10'' sub. I picked up a sub box last night at circuit city for like $9 so I guess I need a good, cheap 10'' sub as well. This doesn't need to be good stuff - just a little better than stock.

Would a 5 channel amp do the trick or can I go with a 4 channel?

    5 channel is best.

Is that box sealed or ported?

Most likely sealed Luke... I don't remember us carrying many non-loaded ported boxes, if any at all.

It's sealed. The store had like 4 days until close so it was on mega clearance.

Would it be awful to run the speakers off of deck power and install lik a 300w mono amp to power the one 10'' sub?

amp >>>> deck power, IMO. If you run a sub on a 300W amp and no external amp on factory speakers, the bass will drown out the speakers unless you turn the gain down to almost 0.

Here is the deal:since the rear of the car basically drowns out the front, it is betterif you have roughly triple the power of the rears up front. High pass makes a very nice difference in clarity and power, too.

So say if I have a 240W 4-channel amp, it would be better to amp the fronts, leave the rears alone, and bridge the amp partially to put 120W through the 12" sub I have in my closet?

I think that's what I'm going to wind up doing except I'm going to put 5 1/4 components up front and leave the stock speakers in the back and then use 2 channels to power a 10'' sub. I can use 2 channels of a 4 channel amp to power 2 5 1/4s and 2 tweeters right? I just have to set the crossovers to work that way?
