    A couple CD43 questions

From what I think I've learned from seaching, is it correct that in order to connect the CD43 to an amp, you'd need to connect (convert?) the HU speaker outputs to the amps rca inputs?

How does one go about integrating a sub at that point? Don't most subs require a "sub input"?

I'm trying to figure the following but have problems envisioning the interconnections:

    CD43
DICE ipod control (connects directly to the headunit?)
Alpine V12 5ch amp (or similar on budget)

    :-?

      The CD43 is a pre-amp only deck, unless it came from a 318i (E36 M44 car).

However, the "pre-outs" are speaker wires, and need to have RCAs soldered on the ends.

As far as making it "subwoofer only", that is not gonna happen...but if you are gonna use a 5 channel amp (JL G6600 if you find it cheap!) with a generally optional subwoofer level control is a great way to fly.

Thanks for the reply. My next question is a more basic question. I want to drive all speakers through 1 amp. Does a typical 5 channel amp which will drive a sub require a "sub" input, or will it take the low frequencies from the left/right inputs and "route" them to the sub output?

Depends on the design of the amp. You can always use splitterz on the RCAs.

            This is really coincidental!!! :D
I just came to this sub-forum to pose the exact same question! I am in the market for a CD43 as well. Going for the original look these days.

So does that mean that most Amps are not looking for a specific frequency range for the sub input? That I can simply "Y" the RCA's (left and right) into the sub input?

You can split them like that and than use amplifier's crossover to get the right frequencies going to the subwoofer. Sending full range signal is ok as long as you use crossover before signal reaches its final destination.
