How to wire up the antenna wire to the rear defroster

    Hey guys,

I was wondering how to wire up the antenna to the rear defrosters? I know I would have to disable the rear defroster.

    Thanks
    Chris

Find an E36 in a junkyard, pull the antenna module (upper left rear pillar) and install it.

As you pull it, it will make sense how it works.

I might do that on mine so i can have MSNDirect on my AVIC-F500BT, in my quest for not having a radio at all...

    Closing SOON!

do you happen to have a part number for this guy?

Also if anyone can answer my original question that would be wonderful. :) it would just make it so easy.

        I use those on boats.

On your defroster antenna, you can simply disconnect the defroster and connect the center lead of the antenna, but you are gonna have pretty weak performance.

Get the E36 module. Once you find one, it will all make sense.

Please post results. I have been trying to find a solution since I shaved mine. I don't listen to much radio but every once in awhile I would like to be able to at least tune stations.

ill post up pictures tonight... but what i did was purchase a universal rubber antenna with a mount for the e30 style hole and a plug cap thing from ace hardware (can be found in those drawers next to all the bolts). I then took apart the antenna and took that brass looking piece where the antenna cable plugs into. I removed that from the antenna and plugged the banana plug clip styled plug from the universal rubber antenna, after I removed all the extra mounting crap on it. I wrapped both the connection from the brasslooking thing to the banana plug in electrical tape and zip tied it to a bracket. Then all I did was plug up the hole and since my track prepped e30 is stripped in the rear caged portion i ziptied the rubber antenna to the sheet metal thats under the door panel right behind the rear driver window. (I would have put it by the rear shelf but I couldnt get past the fixed back seats and in the caged area.) I still get great reception even in my garage. Ill have pics by tonight. Also the plug fits really really tight.

If you drive your e30 on stairs, you're gonna have a bad time.
