    completely new wiring harness?

anybody ever just replaced the entire wiring system with a new OE one? I'm talking about literally everything. Is it difficult? cost effective? Are there certain wiring harnesses better than others? I need to remove the fuse box and all that to repaint the engine bay (which i'm stuck on), and i'm discovering that previous owner mutilated everything.

i use to have 2 minty car harnesses but they got in the way and weighed a ton. So i let the local guys cut out what they needed.

I had to buy a new engine harness for the S52 in my swap car. Actually bought a harness for an OBDI car (1995 325 IIRC). It was $700 and had to come from the Fatherland. It was very painful.

I seriously doubt that a new E30 body harness can be had at any price. If available, I cant imagine what it would cost.

Why do you want to replace the entire harness?

            What year E30?

I have an entire E30 harness, the only mutilated part is the headlight switch plug. harness is for an early car.

I would have to call Luke to see if he wants to keep it though.

PM me if you are interested

My car had an infestation of rats, and a list of many PO modZ. If I wasn't gonna go thru it all anyway, I'd be looking for one of those too.

I had to order many a harness for Honduh guys after 700+ random wiring mods and doodads.

I almost want to do the same, mine is a complete mess.

If you're going to all that trouble, you may as well make it mil-spec, and we all know how that turned out for our favorite aerospace engineer slash M3 owner.

Sweet. Maybe he can market his just as soon as he finds the pictures in a filing cabinet in the Palisades.

I did this in my old camaro...admittedly it was way easier than it would be in an e30, but I loved it.

*For best results, use a harness that is of the same model/year/options that you have or want.
