E30 Dome Light only turning on when door is open

My 1987 325is left dome light is the only one that works, and it only works on door opening. The other two switch settings just turn the light off. I have no way to turn the light on while the door is closed. What could be the culprit of such an issue? Any advice would be great

Most likely the switch is broken, pull it down, behold broken plastic.
