Please Help Fuel Gauge and OBC

    I have a 1987 325is with 13 button OBC

For the past few days my obc range has been between 265-240 and the fuel gauge has been flucuating between 3/4 and 4/4.....

How can I fix this? I've already taken the back seat apart and the tested the connections and it seems fine....I took out the sending unit and washed it down (the bottom was tan not white or dirty brown, so its not bad) and there was no change....I took out the cluster and tried a new one and that didn't work....I tried tightening the washer behind the fuel gauge and still no cigar....

The obc will go down but I've driven almost 140 miles and my range reads 240 and the fuel gauge is just off the full mark.

When I am out of gas and I put more in will it go back to normal? This is the first time this has ever happenend in all of the e30's I've had.
