    1991 325iC - Fuel Filter Locations

Hello - I currently own a 1991 325iC. I used to own many years ago a 86 325 (converted to an i). On my older 325, the fuel filter was located in the engine compartment next to the PS reservoir. I noticed with the newer model, it is located under the car in the rear. When did BMW move the filter location and why? The reason for the ask is I am thinking about relocating the filter back under the hood.

    Thanks for any replies

I don't think it matters...maybe if there was a failure they didnt want fuel to get on anything hot? maybe it's easier to change? My car is like this too, I don't know.

I think it has more to do with your original motor being an 'e' rather than the year of the car. I have an early model convertible and mine has the fuel filter in the back under the car

Thanks - what is the build date of your 87?

Since yours is pre 9/87 (pre mid-model update), you might be right about the location of the fuel filters in the engine compartment for the "e" models and not the "i" models...

              Thanks !
