I have been looking for a DIY too. but no luck. Mostly I have read "find one in a junkyard. Study how it is put together then take all the parts."
However I have been reading that the power top failure is not super complicated to repair. It would be wicked to have a car of our age with a power top. What I have read says you really have to replace the top motor or repair it with a kit if its broken, then resync it with the electronics to make it work.
