    redoing hardtop headliner

I was told by interior shop that the headliner needs to have a foam backing. Not sure if this was true of the OEM which seems to lay directly on the fiberglass. Anyone have input?

I used the foam backing. it was 8.00 a yard I believe. I did it all in one piece. if I were to do it again I would have made the section under the rear window its own piece. only reason why is because in the lower corners the fabric pulled away from the foam.
The fiberglass panel isn't smooth enough to use a non foam backed fabric with out showing imperfections.

Get it with foam backing as the material will lay down better and glue will not seep through the fabric.

I got my material and spray glue from www.yourautotrim.com

What White325is & MCHammered said. There is a thin foam backing behind your oem headliner. It usually ends up stuck to the hardtop if your headliner starts to pull away. If you redo yours, or if you have sag, you need to scrape all the isht off before laying down your glue.

Go black as it looks so much nicer than the beige.

Try it. Could look really nice matched to the interior. Just be sure the color actually matches.
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.
