Hey guys,
I'm sure there's tons of these examples. Posting mine as I know people always want clear examples before buying new wheels/tires.
So to give you some background, I had a set of 17s x7 RacingHart Evo wheels that I had from a previous e30. But having 40 profile tires and bad suspension in the vert, one of the wheels started developing a crack. I took the wheel in to a place in National City(San Diego) and it cost about $40 bucks total to fix. Well soon enough the crack happened again.
I drove on the old wheels for about two years and having to regularly put air in the tires to keep them from going flat. It would normally loose about 10 psi every few weeks so I knew roughly when I needed to fill we up.
Until one day. I got in my car to go to the gym, and noticed it felt off. I got on the freeway and got up to 65 and noticed something was really off. So I pulled over at a gas station two exits down. I filled up the tires and noticed a strange bulge on the inside tire walls and I knew exactly what had happened. I must've ran over something Or the wheel had finally gone to shit.
I put the spare and immediately hated the look of my car. Ghetto as bottle cap. I'm a believed in verts needing to have nice wheels.
So the hunt was on for some replacement wheels, I wanted 17s as I like how they fill in the wheel arches plus I could save on tires considering 3of mine had less than 5k on em.
My homies, dmansalad and rickitan helped with looking up sizes, tire combos and offsets. I was going to go for some style 5s as I like the look a lot! But the cost of having the redrilled and filled was quite pricey and more than I wanted to spend.
Black Friday 2015 came by and ESM was having a 20% off the 002R BBS reps, plus they had them in 16x9 4x100 +15 offset, 57.1CB which fit my car perfect and only need a 5mill spacer for the front. And at $140per wheel (on sale) it was a better route than getting style 5s and having to deal with Bull$hit of redrilling and safety.
It was the Wednesday before thanksgiving, and I was driving from SoCal to Norther California to spend the holidays with my family. I had my shit packed in my new Ford Focus(work car) and my princess olive was joining me as my copilot. Olive doesn't like road trips.
What should've been a 3hour drive from San Diego to Northrige CA took more than 5 fuggin hours. I kept constantly calling in to esm and the guy working was super cool enough to stay there 30 minutes after closing so I could get the wheels on sale.
Big thanks to the guys (I think Daniel is his name) at ESM Northrige.
He even confirmed with me that they would fit perfect with the need of the spacers. Again, big thanks to ESM.
So this is the picture I sent my squad while I was stuck in LA traffic to go home, they wanted a pic or they wouldn't believe me(I lie a lot). Oh and btw driving to NorCal on a day before a holiday takes 11 hours FYI.
