I need rust free fenders. I thought verts were DB bumpers throough like 91? I have a line on a parts car that has plastic bumpers, and is a 90. Owner knows nothing about its HX. were verts platic bumpers in 90? I have an 89 that has DBs. Was wondering if the fenders are the same through all years?

With all e30's, 87 and before was metal bumpers, 88 was a transition year, and 89 on was plastic bumpers. But since they are all easily interchangeable, it's common to find cars that have had one swapped at some point.

RealOEM shows that all the verts 1987-1993 share the same fenders.
However the information listed above about the metal bumpers corresponds to coupes and 4-doors. Convertibles in the US didn't get plastic bumpers until the middle of the 1991 model year (I want to say April is the changeover month to plastic bumpers but I could be mistaken).Comment

Convertibles had their facelift in 10/90. So if the car you're looking at also has large taillights, the seller probably doesn't have the right info. Verts are the easiest cars to swap over to plastics so could also be that

this is correct. there were some cars titled in 1990 that came with plastic bumpers. i don't know the reason for this. possibly state screw ups? there are more than a few 91's its diving boards too.
generally 1991 is considered the facelift year for cabrio's.
all cabrio front fenders are the same. they are different than coupe fenders however.sigpic
