    Hardtop lift questions

I have a lift similar to this:

I get that the cross bar goes through and under, but how do I slip the rear strap under the back part of the hardtop while it's still on the car?

It doesn't feel like a one-man job, as I still need an assist to partially lift the top. It needs to be attached to the cross bar to balance the weight of the hardtop.

    Having a derp moment. Ugh.

Use the hoist to partially lift the top then hold the rear while you bring the center strap around and attach it to the cross bar. Then tighten and level

Thought I thought hoists like this created bends in the top over time?

it's a Kenny Powers quote on wheels

I was seriously considering a hoist similar to this but got nervous that the heat in my garage plus the hoist lift points may cause the top to warp.
