Manual Top Conversion Rear Handle

Is this handle, which is in the rear driver's side panel, different from the regular door handles? I can't seem to figure out how the two cables attach to the handle.

If anyone can post a pic of the back of the rear handle it will be much appreciated.

I read at one point that they were the same handle as the passenger door handle

It is indeed a regular door handle turned upside down. There is a capped ferule screwed to the back side of the latch that holds the cables.
