Early Model Front Apron Sensor

I swapped my early model valance last weekend and there's some sort of sensor attached to the front apron. Does anyone know what this is? It was inserted in the slot pictured below.



My guess is an air temperature sensor.. can anyone confirm?

It's the outside temperature sensor for the onboard computer.
