I was at a Junkyard yesterday that had one E30, which happened to be a Diamantschwarzmetallic Touring. I looked in the trunk area and saw one of these racks and tried to remain calm, and asked him what he wanted for it....15euro, or $21. It's what ya see here minus the bike attachment. AND the keys were attached!!! Plus it has the black strips that cover the center channel when one wants to load stuff directly on top of the bars. It's still got some crap on it from the packing tape that was on it so no pics.

I'd love to pick up a fairing and a couple of frame holder trays. My front fork is through axle, so I have to use an adapter for the fork mount trays. Hopefully I can score some good stuff at the next REI garage sale.

How do you take out the bars even if you have the new keys and lock cylinders in? I got the replacement keys off a sports department.

Whats the proper size Yakima fairing? I measured mine and it came out to 49.5" at the base. It sticks out on one end or the other because the loop that the bars go through is offset to the fairing mounts like this:

Would it be easier to trade/sell/buy new fairing? I got it used so I'm assuming Yakima won't trade me fairings...

Edit: Also the keys didn't come with it and the only numbers I see are in the oval barrel where the lock fits in to. The numbers are also written backwards with the letter "A" coming after the 3 numbers; will this make a difference when ordering new keys?

    Thanks!

Pretty much metal to metal, but you could do the rubber dip/paint to protect I would think or possibly you can find small foam piece thats maybe an 1/8" by 3" (The kind they ship to protect bike frames).

I can't seem to find anything on google/thule/yakima that seems to indicate such a part exists or is at least replaceable, which is why I ask.
