    Shift Boot Install

The fine people at shiftstyle.com asked me to set up a DIY thread for installing their boots, so here it is! Overall a very good product in terms of look, fit, and quality. Install couldn't be simpler.

    1) Remove the old shift knob. Most should wrestle off with some effort unless they've been glued on by some poor soul.

    2) Carefully remove the base bracket of the boot. It's plastic so don't overtorque it when you pop it out. Refer to step 4 to see what the bracket looks like.

    3) Remove the plastic fasteners for the boot from the shifter.

    4) In my situation, I opened up the top seams of the boot as it was very narrow and made the process easier. I would guess it's possible to install as-is, but probably requires considerably more effort and grunting.

    5) Stretch the elastic base evenly over the bracket.

    6) Attach the fasteners to the new boot and carefully install it back onto the shifter making sure that the boot end doesn't slide out when making it snug.

    7) Reattach the base and put the knob back on and you're done!
