In addition to 1000+1, you can also do 100+1 to see the coding plug firmware version you are running.

Don't bother trying to 'upgrade' to a higher number though, the typ codes go by which engine you have so all the range and mpg calculations are correct.

I for one think this thread is pretty interesting, i never knew a few of the things, and it would be great to be able to come back here to refrence how to get the OBC back into U.S. measures once the battery is recoonected.

I wish my 1991 325i with sport package came with an OBC. My bill of sale shows the original owner paid $1900 USD for sport package but I don't have an OBC. Premium sound didn't come with the sport package either - that was another few hundred extra :-/

I think you should be stoked over the fact that you have the last production year of e30's with the most expensive package. The premium sound isnt exactly premium compared to todays standards anyhow. The 13 button OBC is cool but so are those analog face clocks!!!

ps. I want your sideskirts!!!!!

I read (in Car and Driver I think) that BMW speedos read on the high side. They did some comparisons on several different makes of cars, and found BMWs run high worse than any other car--they would always run about 5 mph+ more than actual speed, and it only got worse the closer to top speed you got. They didn't test an E30, but I always felt that it suffered the same problem.
