    Motronic Map Finder

    Hi all,

this is my first time posting here. I own a Bertone Freeclimber II (BMW M40B16 engine) and I was curious about tuninig the engine.

After a lot of research and spent time, I made it. Still, there are many secrets I don't know about DMEs.

These are the descriptors I know:

    RPM: 0x3b
    TPS: 0x30
    Injector constant: 0x3a
    CTS Linearization: 0x04
    Load: 0x40
    RPM Constant: 0x50
    CTS: 0x38
    Volts: 0x36
    IAT: 0x37
    Air Mass: 0xb3

And here is a preliminary version of the map finder:

Still, there's ton of work to do, It works great with DMEs 1.3, 1.7 (32kb). I still need to workout 64kb roms.

I'd really apreciate any help provided.

    Cheers.

Have you tried reading the .bin file off the chip, loading it into TunerPro and seeing if an m42b18 definition file works?

What ECU does the car have? I've messed around with tuning stock ECU's a decent bit but have never tried separating tables and scalars from the raw code. Id recommend sharing some more information about the ECU (mainly the number on the sticker) so others can help.

      Hi Andre,

yes, I've read the following Roms, they kind of work well:

      - 175 (M42b18)
      - 987 (M40b16)
      - 682 (M43b18)
      - 179 (M30B35)

I still struggle to parse correctly 64kb roms (m43b18 661, etc)

      Until now, I automatically finds:
      - Fueling maps (part + WOT)
      - Ignition maps (part + WOT)
      - Idle maps
      - Rev Limiters
      - Injector constants
      - Calculates Checksum
      - Unknown maps.

I don't know exactly how to differentiate A/C ignition/fuelling maps from regular ones.
