can a 173 W.A.R chip work on an 179 ecu?

Last year I bought a W.A.R chip and Maf of a member here second hand for my m20. I now don't plan on running it anymore but my friend with his m30b35 swapped e30 wants to buy it off me. Will it work on his e34 179 ecu even though it was on a m20 173 previously.?

Yes.

The programming will need to be changed though. EASILY done in the WAR software, as the ECU is the first bit you select when installing it.

Simple flash of the chip, wham bam. Good to go.
