Your right 900 rpm is perfect, let it run for five minutes and then turn the idle down to 900 rpm, simultaneously make sure your cable allows this to be possible, once your done adjust your cable accordingly.
Ok today I took my ICV off the car and it would not start, so I cleaned it with CRC. I noticed while cleaning the ICV there was a small door inside that opened and closed,My thoughts were if I'm going to reinstall, should the door be open or closed, I chose to close it and reinstall, low and behold the car started right up and idled perfect, So I took it for a three mile spin continuously going through the gears ran like a champ with tons of power. Just thought I'd let you know

To do it you have to block off the holes. For my trial run I duct tapes the holes. Then found propper plugsLeave a comment:

I recently replaced my old TPS on my m30 after finding I wasn't getting a closed circuit on WOT. Since putting in a new one my idle has jumped to 1300rpm as well. I might try the ICV trick tomorrow to see if it makes a difference.Leave a comment:

So Brody what you said makes sense. My car idled fine with a stock sized MAF which is what I started with. I then upgraded to a 3 inch one. Then I had the high idle.
I did try to close my throttle plate by cranking the set screw lower. It still idled high. I removed the ICV from the info on here and a local tunner. He does it to hondas too.
Ill wait for the video though. Mean time I am running the car sans ICV and it runs great.
And yes I checked EVERYTHING on my car and replaced everything too.Leave a comment:

Martin, my 535 had an ICV, every car we've ever built retains the ICV and works great. We will be making a video soon for those M20 guys with high idles. We've finally had a couple local cars have this issue and we've been able to confirm its a mechanical adjustment problem in regards to how open or closed the throttle plate is.
The WAR chip doesn't do anything different to idle control, it just gives you the power to set the speeds, timing and fuel. If you ICV system is properly set up and functioning the ECU will control it like always. Another thing to think about is when the AFM is present, at idle it is acting like a throttle body in the sense it's pretty closed. So if your throttle plate is too far open in adjustment, you won't notice with the AFM. Remove that restriction and look at that. The previous owner must have had a failing ICV, cracked the throttle plate open some and now with the AFM restriction gone, you get a high idle that can't keep up to what is going on.
Again, we will have a video showing how to determine this on your car shortly.Leave a comment:

I wouldnt say it was unresponsive. I could get the car to idle 3k if I wanted. It just never went lower than 1300rpm. I have been driving the car for a few days with no ICV. Its a lil rough when cold but then I can heal toe pretty well. The voltages all matched what the manual said they should beLeave a comment:

So your new idle control valve was nonresponsive...interesting. Was there voltage to it?Leave a comment:

SO...
Ya long story short. I had an unresponsive TCV.
I just pulled it off and plugged the holes. BAM! proper idle.
Only side effect I can for see is the car running like it has no choke when cold.Leave a comment:

I dont have any way to know how to tell if the car is lean or rich just listening. I am guessing since it idles up it is lean. The stock map has low values for idle and the tune the gave me ups the values. I am tryingto up the values see if I can fix it.
I am running the 3 inch MAF on a stock internals M20 with full exhaust.
So how did you go about making that hose? Just guess work?Last edited by bmwguy325is; 04-29-2012, 03:22 PM.Leave a comment:
