Tuning Options for 2.8I w/ Spec E30 head

Hey everyone.

I'm currently having a 2.8I put together to swap into my 87' ETA. My mechanic has secured a head off one of his spec e30 racers for my use, all it needs is new rockers.

My question is what kind of tuning/engine management options do I have for the 2.8? This is not my area of finite expertise and am on a budget like any other college student but, I am open to options. Is it possible to run it off the 173ecu or with a chip? Or is it better to look at a more advanced system.

The goal of the car is to be an aggressive street car with the possibility of some hpde's and road rallies (Targa Trophy).

Also with it being spec e30 head should I be considering a 284 cam being to compliment the 2.8?

If you want to be able to mess with tuning yourself and still keep the budget on the low end, you could always consider the ostrich emulator (http://www.moates.net/ostrich-20-the...eed-p-169.html).

I used to run one for a while and it worked great, you can download maps/tunes other people have made and change it on the fly. I'm sure a tuner could also take advantage of this system to tune your car for you.

I wish I could give you advice on that specific setup but I don't know enough about tuning to tell you what you need.

Hey, I am running the same with a M52-crank and I´m using the orig. Alpina Chip. Runs great and not to lean (bec. the Alpina had another camshaft and thus mor enrichment which is useful for more stroke...) If you are interested in purchasing one, pm me.

Going to most likely run with a custom SSSQUID tuning chip set up for specifically for my setup. Thanks for the insight everyone!
