    Strange issue with MS2

I've been running MS2 for quite some time and I have the weirdest issue happen after the car has been sitting for a couple of months. After replacing a couple of things, my tune has completely disappeared. But the weird thing is, I uploaded a working/final tune from last January that I saved as a backup and the car runs as if it were "untuned."

Changes I have made since the very last time it ran perfectly on the road:
    -Replaced fuel tank/fuel filter
-Replaced ignition wires from the performance 8mm to the stock 7mm
    -Replaced entire engine wire harness
*FORGOT: Now, I am running a full 3" exhaust. I had a 3" down pipe to 3" center section mated to a stock muffler*

I had to reinstall MS2 onto a Mac because my Windows hard drive crashed, but I doubt that would have any impact....

That's it! I started it up and couldn't place any load on it over 2k rpms....car would misfire and just wouldn't run correctly. I added fuel across the entire VE map and now the car runs fine (albeit as if it needs to be fine tuned on the street and probably the dyne again.)

So why wouldn't a saved tune work from when the car was running properly? I can load maps and a current datalog after some minor street tuning if one would like.

Reducing the plug wires from 8mm to 7mm might have a marginal effect. Obviously a 7mm won't carry the same voltage the 8mm will, so that could be a factor thats throwing off the tune; its just not getting the same voltage to spark it was once capable of. That might be totally wrong. I haven't experimented with plug wires before, but the idea of it seems logical. I mean, what ci dition was your fuel system in when you originally did your tune? To me, replacing those parts would make it easier for the ECU to do its job, unless those parts aren't sending the same data that the ECU was used too, though I dont see that making sense from what you detailed. I dont know, that all could be a lack of knowhow, but I'm just trying to think logically. I'm really not sure what the tolerances are.

Definitely a weird situation....I'm thinking of switching to the Miller MAF package to go back to the stock ECU, M20 TPS (this uses a m30 auto TPS)

        HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL no.
The probalem lurks when you resinstalled MS or tunerstudio in my opinion somewhere. You probably didn't load something, overwrote a file, or didn't burn/upload something during the transfer.
I've had my tune "disappear" on accident before when messing with tunerstudio - had to call my tuner to email me back the file I accidentally overwrote.

Ha, I'll try reuploading the file now and see what happens....not a fan of the Miller War setup?

I agree. You did something wrong with megasquirt, if you didn't change anything significant on the hardware side. I'm assuming you double checked your ignition wires, too...

Do you mean I may not have a strong connection to spark plugs? There are two plugs underneath the diagnostic port....one is cam sensor and the other is for the ignition wires....could I have those backwards? I don't think the car would run, but who knows at this point.

So like an idiot I decided to mess with my tune without knowing what I was doing amd totally deleted it. I found a base rune but cant seem to get it to connect to my ms2. This is a kamotors setup. Anybody have any suggestions. And keep in mind im fairly new at this, but before I decided to be an ass the turbo was running pretty good.

Are you saying you cant get your laptop to connect or your MS2 to connect when you switch your ignition on?

Does anyone have a copy of your old tune? Should be easy....open Tunerstudio with a project and then load the msq file.

Got it connected today. Tune ia loaded but im not getting a spark. Pulled plugs and plugs have gas on them. Now wondering if I flooded or fuse 11 is bad. I've tried just about everything I can think of. Is same rune I was running before I deleted it.

I'm not sure what Fuse 11 is, but if your plugs are fouled, replace them, and gap them correctly, then see how to car responds to your tune

So, I've done a complete retune now. I've posted this on the megasquirt forum, and the consensus is firmware issue.....if that is the case, that is pretty damn ridiculous....
