Making a pnp adapter for ms?
I plan to make an in depth write up and diy for making your own pnp ms one a little more up-to-date then those seen on e30tech by goathumper and such
Making a pnp adapter for ms?

Those old D connectors were never meant to handle any current. So yea.I've also done it by hacking off the stock connector and putting the Megasquirt connector on.. but that sucks too. Using the equivalent of a printer connector as the main interface for your engine pretty much sucks. it's OK within an adapter but I always wish I had done my current MS3 using a stock connector instead of the DB37.Leave a comment:

Gotta try any thing once especially if I can have all the things to build the perfect ms for less then the price of a pnpLeave a comment:

Quoted and bolded for very valid points.then get the DIYpnp.
really, the hard part isn't building the hardware, it's tuning it. you don't want to be struggling with the tune and realize later it was a mistake on the hardware side that you made, or something came apart.
Wiring it up with an old connector works, but I wouldn't do it that way again.
actually, if you want I have an adapter board I need to sell. it was made years ago by goathumper. it has the 55 pin connector, a PCB, and you can wire that up to MS. $20 and its yours. but you'll still have to figure it out..
I started by making an adapter to the stock harness. Bad idea, it was way more headache. Making a new harness took less time.
I couldn't agree more on the tuning part of your post.Leave a comment:

Thanks for info manI pretty much did what Ryan did in the link below, except for the idle control. I just used a resistor to pull it closed.
I used the 37pin connector from the kit for the wires, and used a straight 37pin d-dsub male connector for the board side like the one below

Yes I really wanna learn it. I feel i can do it and I know I can soulder. Just gonna have to buy a magnifying lamp cause my eyes wont be able to take looking at such small things for so longLeave a comment:

Alright what about on the other end? From the 55 pin I see you wired it from the plug they give you in kitYes, that is the kit I bought. I clipped the pins off the old board and left them in the connector. I trimmed them down about 1/2" just enough to get a good solid connection. It takes a steady hand to keep the wire on the pin and solder it.
yellow "grabber" things help too, especially with holding that diode in.

and this helps too if your hand is too shaky.
