    Wasted spark +12V source question

Okay so I finally got my car to start after installing Megasquirt DIYPNP. The car starts (still needs a tune). When I turn it off I hear a buzz from the coil. I'm wondering if it's because I ran its +12V power source directly from the positive battery post in engine bay? Maybe I should have it where it gets +12V for a switched power source? Is there a need to run a fuse as well just in case? I have it grounded to the ground post near the passenger side shock tower if that matters also...

    I'm running the diyautotune coil
IGN-6 Coil PackIGN-6 The IGN-6 ‘wasted spark’ style coil pack; Can deliver up to 58 mJ per spark if you have a hot enough ignition module to drive it.

All it said above as far as hook up for power is to use a +12V power source.

Thanks for the help in advance guys!

It needs to be a switched source, you can use the original stock coil power.

My take is to use that to trigger a relay for a better power source and to take the load off the ign switch and shortens the path(goes from batt post thru relay to coilpack).

also a bit concerned of hearing anything out of the coil when not running, there should be no ground when not running.

Not sure what you are grounding to the shock tower??

I ran a temporary ground from a designated ground post on the car to the coils bolt hole for mounting. I held it in place on the coil with a nut and bolt. I'm guessing I don't need a ground then from what then...

Okay so now I'm going to run a relay between the coil and the +12V power source,+ battery post. Using the stock switched coil power to trigger the relay. Is that correct?

          Thanks whodwho always helpful advice!

You don't need to run the relay but I believe it will give a better spark for not having a voltage drop from all the connection and a 20 yr old ign switch and a shorter path.

de nada, Let me know if you need a diagram and I will put up something
