Base timing and tooth angle problem

    Hi Everyone

I need some help. I have a e30 m20b25 engine. The first time i checked the timing was when i installed the megasquirt. Like one year ago.. In that time the car has the original rotor ignition system and the base timing was good. With 84 angle tooth that is the recommended for this engine and a fixed timing of 10° in megasquirt, i tested it with a back dial timing light set in 10° and it was ok. the light turn on exactly when OT was in line with the other mark. The problem started when i change the ignition system to wasted spark (IGN-6 Six-Tower Coil Pack selled by diyautotune.com) . Now with 84 tooth angle the lines doesn't line up. the light turns on before OT, with 2 o 3 tooth of difference , I have to change the angle to 92° to line up the marks with a fixed time of 10° I also try with 20° and is the same. The strange thing is that when i test with a fixed time of 0° , the 84° the timing mark line up perfect, but when i try with a different fixed timing like 10 o 20 ° , it need 92° to line up... it's really frustating.

What could be causing this difference of angle tooth and fixed timing??

i attach my tune file and a log of yesterday. Currently running 84 ° and the car feels great. Also i have to mention that with 92 ° the exhaust start to glowing red on idle with 17° of advance. This doesn't happen with 84.

    Tune file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/oqr5bf7txl...23.24.msq?dl=0

    Thanks!

With a wasted setup, displayed rpm and timing will be double the actual figures you will have on your map, which will be the correct ones. So dial-back advance lights don't work with wasted spark.Only works if you set the dial advance to 0°. So the solution was set the fixed advance to 0° on megasquirt , a then look if the marks lines up. 84° tooth angle was the perfect number.
