Best stock muffler option for '91 m42

I bought the car with a "recently replaced muffler" but unfortunatley its an ansa muffler and has already rusted to shit in about 2 years and now sound like a rice rocket. What and where can I find the best option for a straight bolt on stock sounding exhaust system that will last some time. I've been reading some posts but I'm sure someone has recently done the same thing and has a great answer for me... Ideally I'm trying to keep it around $200

a lot of the guys with m42's go with a dynomax muffler, its only like $40 and is easily found. i had one on my m42 and had no problems with it. there are a lot of threads about it, so if you search you're bound to find some feedback.

Bosal probably makes the best OEM replacement exhaust. If you want a little sportier sound, pick up a Magnaflow 11265 (i think; I can check) muffler and a 20" or so cherry bomb and have a shop install them. Sounds great with absolutly no rasp hot or cold, and its not too droney or loud.

Thanks for the replies, how much would you reckon a shop making this custom piping run. I've got my eyes out for a nice deal on a Bosal system at the moment.

My entire exhaust all said and done but using piping from the old Bosal that was on the car ran about $120. I would have kept the Bosal but it blew a baffle at an autox and was around 5 years old, so the muffler had seen better days.

Interested in this... Is that the right muffler? recommendations on where to buy a cherry bomb?

Yeah, that's the right part number. I dunno if I have any vids right now, but I can get one if you guys want. fwiw my local shop charged me a ton less having bought the mufflers from them.

Kinda, minus the really lumpy idle. My setup is a lot smoother and maybe even deeper. Volume is hard to compare with a video...
