    M20 - Cat. Delete + Exhaust?

My catalytic converter has something broken inside it. I'm thinking about just taking it out and running a Y-pipe. The car's got a Scorpion on it now.

Has anyone run a cat-back exhaust with deleted cat.? Hows it sound? Any sound clips?

While I'm at it, does anyone know the dimensions of the inlet / outlet pipes off hand? I'm going to get under the car tonight but I'm trying to find a Y-Pipe asap.

YouTube has a ton of these. Also with glass packs to tone it down since I heard it can get annoying at times. I've pondered this idea as well.

Back in '07, I ran my car with Supersprint(reps) headers, no cat, and a magnaflow 14815. It was pretty borderline (loud) for the street, but damn it sounded awesome at WOT.

I run my 318is without a cat. At first with just a small magnaflow 11365 and no stock resonator. LOUD AS BALLS and raspy as shit. Added an 18in resonator and now it sounds great. Not an m20 I know, but it's food for thought.

Edit - both those first videos are pretty close to what my setup would be. Red car sounds raspy - is he on here? I wonder if his muffler 'broke in' and sounds better.

                    1st white car sounds good.

2nd white car does too but that's not very close to my setup. Different motor + headers.

Just picked the car up and I couldn't be happier.

Up to 3500 it sounds about the same - good mild note. After 3500 it roars a real nice deep hollow howl. Burbles and back fires on downshifts even more - which I love. At WOT it sounds great.

Throttle response feels better, and it even cured my up and down idle. She sits smooth at 700 now.

I still haven't gotten the car up to see the work done or taken any video/pics since it's raining. Maybe tomorrow if it's nicer out.

For $80 fabbed up and installed!

at some point you may want to put a resonator in place of the cat. i ran mine with straight pipes for the cat delete and it got old. i added a magna flow as a resonator and could not be happier.

it is on a 2.7 stroker, Dbilas. cold air, stromg catback, msds shorties, 292 cam.

the resonator made it a lot quieter inside the car with the windows rolled up.

                          I like both of these.
