    Good cats for turbo m20s?

Currently i'm using a high flow magnaflow cat in my dinan turbo. My exhaust system is nothing like stock, its a full 3" single pipe that goes into an e36 M3 dinan muffler. The center section of the pipe was cut to fit the cat which uses round clamps to hold it in place.

Anyway, i know the cat the shop sold me is probably crap and will most likely fail on me sometime in the near future. Not to mention that its ceramic, and i've been reading that ceramic cats are not very good for turbo cars... especially ones that tend to run on the rich side.

So my question is... what are some high quality metallic cats for turbo applications? In my research i have found HJS to be a very good company which a lot of Porsche guys are appearently using. However, i cant find any companies selling them on the net. And the cat needs to be single 3" inlet/outlet. Any suggestions?

Ceramic cats are junk and don't last long, especially in turbo applications. You need to look for a "metal core" cat. Looks like a honey-comb when you look through it.

Vibrant Racing has a nice selection of metal-core race cats. I used one in my Evo VIII and it lasted over 50K miles and 4-winters, not to mention countless track days.

+1 for Vibrant. We use them on all our systems. Great cats, decent price, great flow.

Yeah... riding around without a cat got old real quick. In fact, on top of the new cat i'm putting in... i'll probably be running a resonator too. I like a nice sound after 3 or 4K... but anything under that is just annoying.

So any input on these v-band assemblies. Any welding required for the flange part of the assemblies?

i have good things to say about v-bands. I have two for my dual pipe system, right after my headers. You weld the flanges in place.

I think pictures of said "v-bands" would help this thread along abit! :)
