What to do About O2 sensor?

Searched a good while, and haven't found anything. Please point me in the right direction if I've missed something.

My muffler had a lot more rust on it than I thought and a stone separated it from the rest of the exhaust. I got a replacement catback section and the cat section fell off in my hand when I was fitting the catback today. The cat is held in place by drywall screws (PO was a champion) and now my car is even more illegal than it was.

I'm not about to spend money on a cat considering I'll be swapping the motor in the near future (S38 FTMFW) and since I have access to a machine shop it shouldn't be a big deal to make a connector.

In order to pass inspection I can't have a CEL, and so I'm wondering what people are doing with their 02 sensors in their straight pipe cars. Can I fit a resistor to the sensor? Can I simply fasten the sensor to a frame piece so it can still transmit a signal? Should I try and fit the 02 sensor in the new piece?

    Thanks for any help.

I have a 90ix with no cat. I don't get a CEL. Perhaps your CEL problem is else where?

Oh alright then. A friend of mine was telling me that I would have to deal with codes because of a lack of input into the O2. So I can just get rid of it? Will this have any affects on the the air fuel mix?

No, don't get rid of it. It will have some effect on fuel economy.

So it needs to stay on the car, can I zip tie it to a hangar or something?

I took what you said to mean don't tear the 02 sensor off of the car. In that case I figured I'd have to attach it somewhere since it wouldn't be mounted in the midpipe.

Were you saying that I had to keep the 02 sensor in the plugged into the pipe? I guess it wouldn't be too terribly hard to weld the bung into the new pipe.

Fucking idoit? Never heard that one before. I've got nothing against taking it to a shop but I know some people run without them and I wanted to know how it worked.

Thanks for being a prick, you spelled exhaust wrong too.

OK I spelled it wrong. If you dont whant a cell install you 02 its simple. I doubt you can do it your self since you asked this retarded question. So take it to an exhaust shop.
